Maqueta de Papel 1485: Capilla del Corregidor, serie Ourense - "Corregidor" Chapel, Ourense series

Esta maqueta de papel reproduce la capilla del Corregidor que se encuentra en la plaza de este nombre, en Ourense. La plazuela del Corregidor es uno de los diversos enclaves con encanto que podemos encontrar al pasear por el casco antiguo de la ciudad y desde el cual, por cierto, se obtiene una estupenda vista de la Catedral.

La capilla es de estilo neogótico, con fachada labrada en piedra en la que destaca su elegante portada, la triple vidriera superior y la espadaña que alberga el campanario. Según hemos podido saber, data de 1897 y es obra de Antonio Crespo. Sin embargo en una información que hemos podido hallar procedente del catastro, se identifica la ejecución de la capilla a mediados del siglo pasado. Haremos lo posible por confirmar la fecha en una futura visita a la ciudad. 

La capilla pertenece a la Congregación de las Carmelitas de la Caridad que se establecieron en Orense en el 12 de marzo de 1879. Siendo la primera Institución religiosa española que tenía como fin la educación de las niñas, la capilla forma parte del Colegio de las Carmelitas (Colegio Plurilingüe Santa Teresa de Jesús). Su edificio principal que, con tres escudos, preside la plaza, fue conocido en el pasado como la casa de los Temes; de su historia y la de la propia plaza os hablamos en anteriores entradas, puesto que ya hemos publicado las maquetas de papel de algunos de sus edificios.

La maqueta de papel se ha diseñado en 6 tipos de piezas independientes que se pegan entre sí, siendo el montaje sencillo, como en la mayoría de nuestras construcciones. Eso sí, las más pequeñas serán un reto para los aficionados a las escalas menores. 

This paper model reproduces Corregidor Chapel, located in the plaza of the same name, in Ourense. The square of Corregidor is one of the several charming spots you can find when strolling through the old quarter and from which, by the way, there's a great view of the Cathedral.

The chapel is neo-Gothic style, with its main façade carved in stone. Its most remarkable features are the elegant front gate, the triple stained glass windows and the bulrush on the top, keeping the bells. As we could learn, the author was Antonio Crespo, 1897. However, according to some documents from the cadastre, the chapel would have been built by the middle of last century. We will do our best to find out the exact date on the occassion of a future visit to the city. 

The chapel belongs to the Congregation of the Carmelite Sisters of Charity who settled in Orense in 1879. Being the first Spanish religious institution which aimed at the education of girls, the chapel is part of the College of the Carmelites (Colegio Plurilingüe Santa Teresa de Jesús). Its main building, with three heraldic shields, presides over the square and was known in the past as the Home of the Temes; more details about it and about the history of the square and the "Corregidores" can be found on previous posts, as we have already published some paper models based on its buildings.

The paper model is designed in 6 types of pieces that are to be assambled separately and glued together afterwards. The model is easy to assemble as it is our aim. Little pieces will be challenging for those building in smaller scales, though.
