Maqueta de Papel 1459: Edificio Progreso, serie Ourense - Progreso Building, Ourense series

Un nuevo edificio de papel de la serie Ourense protagoniza nuestra entrada de hoy. La maqueta de papel reproduce una construcción de estilo clásico y elegante, situada en la Calle del Progreso, lindando con la finca que alberga el Obispado. Lamentablemente no hemos conseguido mayor información en lo que se refiere a los orígenes de su edificación u otros detalles arquitectónicos. 

Trataremos de averiguar más, del mismo modo que agradeceremos cualquier dato.

Sin embargo, sí que podemos comentaros que el edificio es actualmente sede del INORDE, el Instituto Ourensán de Desenvolvemento Económico, organismo dependiente de la Diputación de Ourense que tiene por objetivo el desarrollo económico y sostenible de la provincia. 

Hemos pensado que los aficionados a los trenes no nos perdonarían que no aprovechásemos la ocasión para mencionar uno de los proyectos de este organismo, “Estaciones Vivas”, por el que se han rehabilitado 6 estaciones de ferrocarril abocadas al desuso, con el fin de impulsar el desarrollo local mediante nuevos itinerarios turísticos en entornos singulares. 

Se trata de las estaciones de Baños de Molgas, Vilavella (A Mezquita), Campobecerros (Castrelo do Val), Vilar de Barrio, Santa Cruz de Arrabaldo (Ourense) y Os Peares (A Peroxa). A través de las poquitas fotografías que están disponibles en la web del INORDE, parece que las estaciones han quedado de maravilla y sólo verlas hace pensar que haya merecido la pena, aunque quede trabajar por consolidarlas como propuesta cultural o turística. 

La iniciativa ha recibido el premio de la Association Européenne des Cheminots (Asociación Europea de Ferroviarios, compuesta por 18 países) por la recuperación del patrimonio a lo largo de la línea Zamora-Ourense-Santiago-A Coruña; es el primer premio de ámbito europeo concedido por esta Asociación. 

En la recogida del premio, el gerente del INORDE hizo un reconocimiento a los más de 15.000 trabajadores que durante 30 años hicieron realidad el avance del tramo Puebla de Sanabria-Ourense, en el cual se ha llevado a cabo la renovación de las estaciones. Por cierto, que en la documentación que aporta el INORDE en su web (www.inorde.com/EstacionesVivas) podréis encontrar un ameno resumen sobre la historia de dicha línea que se inició en 1860, como hemos comentado en alguna otra entrada. 

Algunas maquetas de estas estaciones se exhiben o se han exhibido ya en el Museo del Ferrocarril de Madrid, después de que a finales del año pasado, el proyecto recibiera el reconocimiento de los ferroviarios españoles durante unas jornadas técnicas de la Asociación Europea en la capital de España. La buena noticia es que parece las maquetas se comercializarán tal como desea impulsar la Asociación Española. 

Lo más inminente en el desarrollo de este proyecto es que “Estaciones Vivas” forma parte de los itinerarios de los Trenes Turísticos de Ourense, que se ha anunciado comenzarán a funcionar progresivamente a partir de este mes de Mayo. Se trata de 5 Rutas del Vino (Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei, Ribeiro-Rías Baixas y Ribeira Sacra-Valdeorras) impulsadas por el Inorde en colaboración con la Xunta, Renfe y Fomento.

Desde “Edificios de Papel” deseamos el mayor de los éxitos a estas iniciativas a las que seguiremos prestando nuestra atención.

A new paper model of Ourense series stars our entry today. It is a building of classic elegant style, located in the Calle del Progreso, bordering the property that houses the Bishopric. Unfortunately we have not gotten more information in regards to the origins of the building or other architectural details. Hopefully we will be able to collect more details in the future; any information from Ourense is always welcome if you have it.

Nevertheless, we can tell you that the building is now home to INORDE, “Instituto Ourensán de Desenvolvemento Económico” ("Institut of Ourense Economic Development"), an agency of the Provincial Council of Ourense that aims at the sustainable economic development of the province.

We thought the train buffs would not forgive us not tapping into the opportunity to mention one of the INORDE projects, “Estaciones Vivas“ (“Live Train Stations”), by which 6 railway stations doomed to disuse have been rehabilitated, aiming to boost local development through new tourist itineraries in unique environments.

The following stations were renovated: Baños de Molgas, Vilavella (A Mezquita) Campobecerros (Castrelo do Val), Vilar de Barrio, Santa Cruz de Arrabaldo (Ourense) and Os Peares (A Peroxa). Through the -very- few pictures available on the website of INORDE seems that the final results are excellent - just seeing the new station buildings makes us think that the effort was worth it, even if there is still hard work to do to  consolidate the project as cultural or tourism proposal.

The initiative has been awarded by the Association Européenne des Cheminots (Association of European Railway Staff, 18 countries) for the recovery of historical and cultural assets along the Zamora-Ourense-Santiago-A Coruña line; is the first Europe-wide award granted by this Association.

At the award ceremony, the manager of INORDE honored the more than 15,000 workers who, for 30 years, made the section Puebla de Sanabria-Ourense possible. This is the section where the renovated stations are. Incidentally, you can find an entertaining overview of the history of this line in the documentation available at the INORDE website (www.inorde.com/EstacionesVivas/documentos).

Some models of these stations were or still are exhibited in the Museo del Ferrocarrill (Railway Museum) of Madrid, after the recognition paid to the project by the Spanish section of the AEC, on the occasion of a technical conference at the end of last year, in the Spanish capital city. The good news is that it seems the Spanish Association wants to boost the launch of the models for sale.

The latest regarding the project is that “Estaciones Vivas" is part of the itineraries of “Trenes Turísticos” (“Tourist Trains”) of Ourense. May was announced as the date for these trains to progressively start covering 5 Wine Routes (Ribeira Sacra, Monterrei, Ribeiro-Rias Baixas and Ribeira Sacra-Valdeorras) driven by INORDE in collaboration with the regional government, Renfe and national government.
