Maqueta de Papel 1493: Antiguo Almacén - Old Warehouse

Old Warehouse Papermodel

Stone and elegant window panes in this papermodel

Stepped gable or pediment

Today`s papermodel reproduces an old warehouse or factory from the early twentieth century.

Hastial o frontón escalonado

Built in sound stone with elegant arched windows, the façade is crowned by a stepped pediment: The triangular upper part of the facade of a building from the cornice to the eaves of a pitched roof or gable is called pinion. When the edge masking that roof is shaped in steps, then it is called stepped gable or pediment.

It is common in the buildings of the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, particularly in the Netherlands. It is a constructive element that is taken up strongly in industrial architecture from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The main features of this architecture are the functionality of the buildings and the application of state of the art materials resulting from the advances and innovations in technology.

Elegante edificio para nuestra maqueta de papel

From the twenties and as a result of the Industrial Revolution, this new architecture called rationalism, functionalism, International Style or, in its broadest sense, Modern Movement (not Modernism) is hugely developed. Bauhaus is among its main movements.

Through industrial buildings such as warehouses, factories and workshops, chimneys, steel mills, refineries, power stations, railway stations, port facilities and hangars, especially since the thirties, it would spread throughout most of the Western world, setting the characteristic forms and spaces of modernity.
