Edificios de Papel: Diez años después, encontramos las llaves.

Echando la vista atrás, es inevitable sentir cierta nostalgia al recordar los inicios de este proyecto. Todo comenzó en 2014, cuando Mónica y yo pusimos en marcha este blog. Entre aquel año y 2017, vivimos una etapa intensa, creativa y llena de actividad, compartiendo con todos vosotros nuestra pasión por el modelismo y la arquitectura.

Sin embargo, a principios de 2017, la dinámica cambió drásticamente. Empezamos a sufrir una oleada de ataques constantes: nos enviaban reportes masivos de contenido ilegal que no eran más que ataques coordinados para tumbar nuestros enlaces y, en medio de aquel caos, perdimos el acceso a nuestras propias cuentas. Gestionar el blog se convirtió en una batalla diaria hasta que, por si fuera poco, un traslado de ciudad accidentado nos hizo perder algunas pertenencias; entre ellas, la famosa libreta donde guardábamos las llaves de nuestro mundo digital. Tras buscarla incansablemente sin éxito, y ante el agotamiento acumulado, aceptamos que aquella etapa había llegado a su fin. Optamos por dejar el blog en "piloto automático" y seguir adelante con nuestras vidas.

Pasaron los años y, hace apenas 45 días, ocurrió algo increíble: Mónica encontró la libreta en el lugar más insospechado. Por pura curiosidad, decidimos probar suerte y, para nuestra sorpresa, logramos acceder de nuevo al blog y al correo.

Lo que encontramos nos dejó impactados. Durante nuestra ausencia, el blog había sufrido las consecuencias del abandono: enlaces rotos, descargas eliminadas y redes sociales bloqueadas. Pero lo más difícil de gestionar fue ver más de mil mensajes en nuestra bandeja de entrada: peticiones para utilizar nuestro material en revistas, libros, prensa y proyectos personales a las que nunca pudimos responder, simplemente porque no teníamos acceso a la plataforma.

Queremos pediros disculpas de todo corazón. No buscamos justificaciones ni dramatizar: las cosas sucedieron así y nuestra responsabilidad es asumirlas con total transparencia. Si en algún momento contasteis con nuestro material y nuestra falta de respuesta os causó algún inconveniente, lo sentimos profundamente. Nunca fue nuestra intención que pensarais que no nos importabais. Este blog, que nació con humildad y sin pretensiones, siempre tuvo como pilar fundamental el respeto hacia el trabajo y la ilusión de los demás.

No queremos cerrar este mensaje sin recordar a todos aquellos compañeros de viaje que empezaron junto a nosotros. Sabemos que muchos de vuestros espacios también han cerrado sus puertas, pero fue un verdadero placer haber compartido aquellos tiempos con vosotros.

Un recuerdo especial para Jubilata (maquetasandmodelos.blogspot.com), un verdadero maestro maquetista del que tanto aprendimos; para Pascal Ebersold (Pascal6733) y toda la comunidad de Maquettes Papier; para Thomas, de Little House Cards; para Mauther (papermau.blogspot.com), por haber estado siempre ahí (aún recordamos con cariño a esa pequeña mascota que tenías; tras diez años, imaginamos que ya es toda una mujer); y para Dave, de Cardboards, gracias por los buenos momentos compartidos.

Pedimos disculpas a todos los aficionados que se quedaron sin poder descargar los archivos. Mencionamos, entre tantos otros, a José Mattos, a quien sentimos haber afectado en su proyecto de maqueta de tren; al periódico La Región, que nos pidió una colaboración y se quedó sin respuesta; al proyecto educativo rutasdelectura.com; y a carrileiros.com, con quienes me quedó pendiente un reportaje gráfico que me hacía mucha ilusión realizar. Sois tantas personas a las que no pudimos contestar que nos resulta imposible mencionaros a todos aquí.

Sobre el presente del blog, queremos ser muy claros: hemos invertido más de 200 horas en resolver enlaces rotos, adaptar el blog a los cambios técnicos de la plataforma —que ahora es muy diferente a la de hace nueve años— y remaquetar todos los posts para hacerlos más legibles. No obstante, nuestro tiempo disponible es limitado. Por ello, por ahora no podemos comprometernos a nuevos proyectos o atención constante; nuestro objetivo es mantener el blog como archivo y ayudar en la medida de nuestras posibilidades.

Looking back, it is impossible not to feel a certain nostalgia when remembering the beginnings of this project. It all started in 2014, when Mónica and I launched this blog. Between then and 2017, we lived through an intense, creative, and activity-filled period, sharing our passion for modeling and architecture with all of you.

However, at the beginning of 2017, the dynamic changed drastically. We began to suffer a wave of constant attacks: we were receiving massive reports of illegal content, which were nothing more than coordinated attacks to take down our download links. In the midst of that chaos, we lost access to our own accounts. Managing the blog became a daily battle until, as if that were not enough, a difficult move to a new city caused us to lose some of our belongings—among them, the famous notebook where we kept the keys to our digital world. After searching for it tirelessly without success, and feeling the weight of the accumulated exhaustion, we accepted that this chapter had come to an end. We chose to leave the blog on "autopilot" and move on with our lives.

Years passed, and just 45 days ago, something incredible happened: Mónica found the notebook in the most unexpected place. Out of sheer curiosity, we decided to try our luck and, to our surprise, we managed to regain access to the blog and the email.

What we found left us shocked. During our absence, the blog had suffered the consequences of neglect: broken links, deleted downloads, and blocked social media accounts. But the most difficult part was seeing more than a thousand messages in our inbox—requests to use our material in magazines, books, press, and personal projects that we could never respond to, simply because we didn't have access to the platform.

We want to apologize to you with all our hearts. We don't want to make excuses or be dramatic: things happened the way they did, and our responsibility is to own that with total transparency. If at any point you counted on our material and our lack of response caused you any inconvenience, we are deeply sorry. It was never our intention to make you think you didn't matter to us. This blog, which was born with humility and without pretense, always had as its fundamental pillar the respect for the work and enthusiasm of others.

We don't want to close this message without remembering all those fellow travelers who started alongside us. We know that many of your spaces have also closed their doors, but we want you to know that it was a true pleasure to have shared those times with you.

A special memory for Jubilata (maquetasandmodelos.blogspot.com), a true master modeler from whom we learned so much; for Pascal Ebersold (Pascal6733) and the entire Maquettes Papier community; for Thomas, from Little House Cards; for Mauther (papermau.blogspot.com), for always being there (we still fondly remember that little pet you had; after ten years, we imagine she is a grown woman now); and for Dave, from Cardboards, thank you for the good times we shared.

We apologize to all the enthusiasts who were left without being able to download the files. We mention, among many others, José Mattos, whom we regret having affected in his train model project; the newspaper La Región, which asked for a collaboration and never received a response; the educational project rutasdelectura.com; and carrileiros.com, with whom I had a graphic report pending that I was very excited to do. There are so many people we couldn't answer that it would be impossible to list you all here.

Regarding the present state of the blog, we want to be very clear: we have invested more than 200 hours in fixing broken links, adapting the blog to the technical changes of the platform—which is now very different from nine years ago—and reformatting all the posts to make them easier to read. However, our available time is limited. For this reason, we cannot commit to new projects or constant attention; our goal is to maintain the blog as an archive and help out to the best of our ability.
